Redmond police officers arrested two male suspects in connection with a robbery on Sept. 14 at a 7-Eleven in Redmond.

According to a Redmond Police Department (RPD) press release, officers were dispatched to the store at 2:28 a.m. after receiving a report that a male suspect punched the clerk, stole beer and fled on foot from the store, located at 8316 164th Ave. N.E. The clerk told officers he wouldn’t sell alcohol to the suspect since it was after 2 a.m.

“A patrol supervisor reviewed video footage, confirming there were actually two suspects at the store. Suspect No. 1 punched the clerk and during that incident, the beer fell onto the floor. Suspect No. 2 then entered the store, picked up the beer and also fled on foot,” the release states.

After officers spotted one of the suspects, he continued running from them after police identified themselves. Officers searched for the suspect for 40 minutes, and K-9 Remy located the man hiding in the bushes three blocks south of the store.

“The suspect, who has previous charges for vehicle prowling and possession of stolen mail, was arrested for robbery. Officers also found three credit cards on him, not in his name,” the release states.

An officer noted that he located a third man, who was with both suspects the previous evening and detained him for questioning. The third man said he knew both men, as all three of them work together at a restaurant. Officers determined he was not involved in the robbery.

Officers located suspect No. 2 later that night and arrested him for robbery, as well.

“Further investigation reveals the men left work and visited another Redmond restaurant. The bill was fraudulently paid with one of the three credit cards found in suspect No. 1’s wallet. We are working now to find the real owners of the three credit cards,” the release states.
