Park work party set for Saturday

The City of Redmond’s Parks and Recreation department and artist Kristin Tollefson invite Redmond residents to help build a new park from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, July 18 on the north side of Northeast 122nd Street, between 176th and 177th Avenues Northeast.

As a result of recent meetings with neighborhood residents, The City of Redmond will install some interim park improvements at the Northeast Neighborhood Park this summer. Funding for full park development is not yet available, but nearby residents are eager to get started on small projects to be built by city staff and volunteers.

At the first work party on July 18, projects will include:

• Clearing and installing a trail and gathering space.

• Creating play elements with “found” materials such as twigs, branches, logs and stones.

• Building benches uses logs.

Tollefson and Nakano Associates Landscape Architects will be available to guide some of the project activities.

The City of Redmond will provide snacks, gloves and hand tools. Volunteers are welcome to bring their own tools; however, please do not bring power tools. Children under the age of 14 are welcome if accompanied by an adult.
