Redmond mayor declares October to be ‘Jobs Powered by AtWork! Month’

Redmond Mayor John Marchione signed a proclamation last Friday, declaring October to be "Jobs Powered by AtWork! Month" in the City of Redmond.

Redmond Mayor John Marchione signed a proclamation last Friday, declaring October to be “Jobs Powered by AtWork! Month” in the City of Redmond.

The proclamation commended AtWork! for supporting people with developmental disabilities, who are Redmond residents, in their quest to find and keep good jobs in the community and receive good wages and benefits.

The proclamation went on to honor six progressive local businesses for their recognition of the valuable contributions that people with disabilities make to the economic vitality of their enterprises by hiring clients served by AtWork!

Further, the proclamation commended AtWork! for supporting nine Redmond citizens who have disabilities, empowering them to lead productive and meaningful lives, provide support for their families, and develop skills necessary for long-term employment.

Present at the signing with Marchione were Jennifer Lonn, a Redmond resident supported by AtWork! who is a full-time seven year employee of Costco Wholesale in their Issaquah Corporate Headquarters; Katlin Glynn, AtWork! professional employment consultant; and Bob Thompson, AtWork! COO.

AtWork! is a 501(c)3 organization serving clients throughout King County. Working closely with employers in the community, AtWork! designs customized employment solutions that enhance workplace productivity as well as the lives of AtWork! clients.

AtWork! also offers clients a range of training and employment opportunities in its own landscaping, recycling and document management services.
