A group of four boys allegedly knocked on doors of houses in the 18600 block of Northeast 63rd Way and then sprayed the people who answered the door with fire extinguishers shortly before midnight Monday night, according to Redmond police.

“There doesn’t appear to have been damage or injuries to anyone involved other than some initial burning of the eyes,” said Redmond police spokesman Jim Bove.

Redmond police received three calls, but none of the victims were able to get a good look at the suspects because of the spray, Bove said.

One victim tried to chase after the attackers, but lost track of them as they ran away.

“Although vision was limited, witnesses believe the ages of the boys to be 11-14 years old and they were wearing hoodies,” Bove said.

Redmond police do not have any suspects at this time and Bove said he could not speculate as to why someone would do this, saying “it appears to be mischievous child behavior.”

On Tuesday, Redmond police received a report that fire extinguishers were stolen from a business in the 16600 block of Northeast 72nd Way — not far from the sprayings.

Bove said the two crimes could be related, pointing out that the two incidents were in proximity of each other and the calls to police were less than 24 hours apart.
