The SoulFood CoffeeHouse and Fair trade Emporium will hold a meet and greet with author Mary Korte from 2-4 p.m. Saturday at 15748 Redmond Way. People can peruse her three-volume, adult/young adult, metaphorical novel, “Kaleidoscope SANTA,” and her rhyming parody, “A Girl Doesn’t Need To Go To College… But… But… But…”

In “Kaleidoscope SANTA,” Korte takes Santa’s present image and exposes what seems to be a hidden truth. All his life he has been keeping a secret from the whole world. Metaphorically speaking, he’s a “Kaleidoscope SANTA,” a Santa for people of all colors. Korte humanizes this lovable character with every emotion possible. That, in turn, makes his predicament plausible and justifies the reason for keeping the lid on his ethnic secret for so long.

In “A Girl Doesn’t Need To Go To College… But… But… But…,” a student who is bullied finds the spunk to confront her torturer and an impoverished (also abused) young girl rises above her situation.
