Congresswoman Suzan DelBene will be visiting Redmond startup business Kymeta Corporation tomorrow to discuss the positive impact startups have on the local economy. The visit will focus on the business climate for tech startups and ways federal policy can encourage job growth to ensure a vibrant, innovative startup community in the Pacific Northwest.

DelBene will visit Kymeta Corporation — a 1-year-old startup that develops next generation satellite communication solutions — as part of Startup Day Across America, a nationwide event to showcase the economic activity and job creation happening in communities across the nation by local entrepreneurs. Organized by the Congressional Caucus on Innovation and Entrepreneurship, DelBene is joining dozens of her colleagues in similar events across the country.

DelBene will discuss ways to help Washington state maintain an innovative, thriving startup community. They will discuss the need for increased investments in STEM education, comprehensive immigration reform, federal support for basic research, access to capital and issues related to patents and intellectual property. They will also propose reforms that will help the industry continue to expand and spark innovation that is critical to a 21st century economy.
