Machinists Union members raised $17,500 at the seventh annual Guide Dogs of America Charity Golf Tournament. The 132-golfer event was held July 17 at Willows Run Golf Complex in Redmond.

The team of Scott Chord, Jerod Gillies, Marvin Rosales and Casey Schmidt won the four-man best-ball tournament. Their score of 56 gave them a one-stroke edge over the second-place team.

“We had a great group of golfers, a lot of volunteers and the folks at Willows Run were, as always, really great to work with,” said Mark Clark, who was the tournament’s lead organizer. “Everyone worked together so we could have a fun day raising money for a great cause.”

The tournament is sponsored each year by Machinists Union District Lodge 751, and it benefits Guide Dogs of America, a California-based charity that provides service dogs and training in their use free of charge to people who are blind or have impaired vision from across the United States and Canada.

District 751 is one of the top fundraisers for Guide Dogs of America. Over the past seven years, the union has raised more than $2 million for the charity.

Originally formed in 1935 by hourly workers at the Boeing Co., District Lodge 751 of the International Association of Machinists & Aerospace Workers now represents more than 32,000 working men and women at 53 employers across Washington and California.
