On Aug. 2, Redmond residents will join communities across America to participate in the 33rd Annual National Night Out Against Crime. Families get together amidst block parties, barbecues and dessert to meet or catch up with each other and talk about what’s happening in their neighborhood.

Last year, there were more than 50 parties in Redmond. The city is happy to support this event in our community. The mayor and representatives from council and the police and fire departments will be visiting many different neighborhoods. Come provide your elected officials feedback and have fun checking out police cars or fire trucks.

This year’s National Night Out takes place in the shadow of ugly national events that have torn apart communities. That is why it is even more important for us to celebrate our diverse community. It is the conversations and connections that occur during National Night Out — and the increased understanding and familiarity with one another as a result — that strengthen the fabric of Redmond.

Redmond is one of the safest places to live in the nation. The strong partnership between Redmond’s residents, leaders and our police and fire departments provide the foundation for our safety. City employees are strongly committed to service and dedicated to making positive differences in our community.

We look forward to visiting with you and your neighbors on Tuesday evening.
