Senior Kirk Gysler pitched very well, going five innings and allowing only one run on one hit while striking out five, before leaving the game due to pitch count.

In the sixth, the Wildcats scored four times to take a 5-3 lead, but the Mustangs had a golden opportunity in the top of the seventh, with runners on first and second and no outs, but senior Cody Beliel’s bunt was caught on a spectacular diving play by the Wildcats’ pitcher, who relayed to second and then to first for a game-ending triple play.

Senior Patrick McGrath led the Mustang offense, going 2-for-3 with a double, with sophomore Lucas Eliason also doubling in the losing effort.

Redmond’s plays again this afternoon against Newport on the Knights’ home field, at 4 p.m.
