Redmond’s Parchman, Chen win state gymnastics titles

Anna Parchman, 9, of Redmond, recently won the all-round state gold medal at the Level 5 Washington Youth Championships in Pasco with an all-around score of 37.925.

Anna Parchman, 9, of Redmond, recently won the all-round state gold medal at the Level 5 Washington Youth Championships in Pasco with an all-around score of 37.925.

Parchman finished first in the bars (9.60), beam (9.50) and floor (9.50) en route to the title. She was also presented a special Judges’ Award for her “artistry, text and presentation on the balance beam.”

Parchman competes for Redmond’s Emerald City Gymnastics (ECG), which took third place in the team competition at the state championships.

Allison Chen, also competing at Level 5 in the Junior B division, took first place by one-tenth of a point over her nearest competitor with an all-around score of 37.375.

Chen tied for first in the bars (9.60) and won the beam event (9.250) en route to her title.
