Every day, I take 166th Avenue Northeast down Education Hill and take a right on Northeast 85th Street to get to work.
Mike Collins raises some important issues in his letter concerning the conversion from four traffic lanes to three on 166th Avenue Northeast.
September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. Approximately 500 women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer in Washington state each year. It is estimated that 22,00 women will be diagnosed in the nation in 2014 with an estimated mortality rate of 14,000 in 2014.
We volunteer for Hopelink during the week and at the Saturday Redmond Farmers Market. Here a group of local farmers, artisans and purveyors of fine food, as well as volunteers such as Master Gardeners and others, sell their wares and share their knowledge. All contribute to the ambience and help the local economy, with their delicious harvest, beautiful flowers, arts and crafts and music. We all have come to appreciate their hard work and knowledge.
Merge/buy, whatever you want to call it, but Burger King is a United States company, headquartered in Florida.
This letter is in response to Larry Brickman’s “Tougher DUI laws needed” in the Aug. 8 issue of the Redmond Reporter.
As I sat in traffic trying to drive up the I-5 north, I bemoaned the lack of funding for our state’s infrastructure. About 67 percent of all of Washington’s roads are in poor or mediocre condition according to infrastructurereportcard.org, and needs an estimated $6.3 billion to remedy all infrastructural weaknesses.
I am a Redmond resident who lives on a dead-end street and am being negatively impacted by the traffic redesign now occurring on 166th Avenue Northeast. It amazes me that no advance meetings were held to solicit public input on changes that have such a major impact on so many residents. It actually endangers those of us attempting to merge with 166th Avenue Northeast traffic, in either direction.
It was very helpful to read on the front page of the Reporter last Friday of the Redmond Arts Festival, as it led to my wife and I enjoying a very pleasant and informative Saturday morning.
We constantly see in the news where a driver, high on marijuana or under the influence of alcohol, hits a pedestrian or another car, killing someone. They are charged with driving under the influence or vehicular homicide. They get a few years in prison and then are free to live their lives.
Conservative ideology is based on protecting rich people from having to pay for the benefits they reap from government: peace at home, government contracts, stable markets, laws, infrastructure, an educated work force, research, potable water, public health, etc.
If you ever wondered which side of the fence you sit on, these observations may help label you:
Noise from Marymoor Park? For decades, we have been provided ear-rattling commentary from the Velodrome. Racing bicycles by intent and design are as silent as possible. During races, the unnecessarily amplified voice of the announcer has echoed around our valley. The uninitiated might have been convinced that something was actually happening there.
Marymoor Park is an excellent venue for concerts and movies in the summer, not to mention Cirque du Soleil.
In the race for 45th District senator, the best decision for voters is to re-elect Andy Hill.
I’m proud to vote for Matt Isenhower for state Senate in the 45th Legislative District. Matt will work hard for our schools, roads and will work across the aisle to find real solutions down in Olympia.
The Redmond Saturday Market (RSM) has become a treasured icon over the past 39 years in this community. The RSM with its 125 members has so much to offer from local farm fresh produce to original handmade products not to mention the weekly entertainment at the gazebo and activities for children.
Recently in our housing community, I have noticed a lot more children riding around on their bikes. That’s good; at least they are not glued to the TV screen or computer. However, while these children are having fun, they are not aware of their surroundings and the dangers there. It is just an accident waiting to happen.
The recently built roundabout coming down Novelty Hill is now covered with political candidate signs. This is a real distraction to drivers on this very busy road.
This letter is in response to Barbara Dickson, who wrote a very long letter last issue complaining about the noise levels at Marymoor Park, where concerts are held during the summer months.
