Speed camera helps keep school zone safe

I am so glad that the speed zone camera has been installed in front of Einstien Elementary School. Every morning we wait to cross with our children, using the crosswalk which has a 20 mph school speed zone sign and blinking light, two adult crossing guards holding red flags, and often a Redmond Police Officer.

Car after car speeds by while looking at us the whole time. They see us, and still refuse to stop. Even after we are part way into the crosswalk, they continue to speed by us. I am amazed at how blatant these actions are.

If this is what it takes to make drivers obey the law, then I’m all for it. Charge even more if need be. The money can be used by Redmond to help fund more speed zone cameras in front of other schools. And that bright flash as the camera records a speeder – it’s great to see those speeding drivers finally being held accountable!
