After acing the Hopelink Can Madness championship in the first three years of the competition, Hancock’s Bakery of Redmond struggled to reach the top spot in subsequent tournaments. This year — the seventh — the inaugural winner returned. On April 1, Hancock’s held off a strong showing by a rookie team from the City of Redmond to claim the title in Hopelink’s annual competitive food drive.

Assault: Redmond police took an assault report at 9:54 a.m. in the 2200 block of 148th Avenue Northeast. Officers received a report from an employee who was dealing with an uncomfortable situation while at work.
The combined Overlake/Bear Creek squad defeated Cashmere, 8-4, on Tuesday to raise its record to 7-1 overall. The Growls also beat Meridian, 7-6, in nine innings on March 24.
