Melvyn Bravo-Flores pleaded guilty on March 8 to two counts of second-degree child molestation and will be sentenced on April 8, according to the King County Prosecuting Attorney Office. He faces a sentence range of 31 to 41 months in prison.

As Earth Day approaches, Sustainable Redmond is hosting an open community meeting on April 25 to discuss how the city’s environmental quality has changed over the last five years. The session will be held from 6-8:30 p.m. at the Redmond Library.

In commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War, Redmond Mayor John Marchione joined Gov. Jay Inslee in signing a proclamation honoring Vietnam veterans.
Robert Malsch, who was apprehended and arrested by Everett police on March 17, has a case-setting hearing scheduled for April 7, according to the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. A trial date will be rescheduled, but it’s not known if a date will be set on April 7.
Mark Karasek, 22, who pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder after his father, Zdenek Karasek, was shot and killed on Jan. 9, 2015 will have his case-setting hearing May 19, according to the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

Eight female high school students from Redmond gathered with family and friends at a reception at the Lake Washington School District Administration Building in Redmond on March 16 to accept accolades from the Kirkland-Redmond Branch of American Association of University Women (AAUW). Altogether, district schools chose 20 young women as their female students to be honored for their excellence in science, technology and math.
